Design an Awesome Splash Page

(Download the PSD) In this video tutorial we're going to take a look at how to design a really graphical splash page. Most newcomers are amazed when they realize how quick and easy it is to make something that at first glance seems like it takes a long time to design. It's really just a few elements and knowing how to manipulate them, and then knowing how to use them effectively. The gradient, outter glow, paintbrush tool, and the layer blend modes are what we will be focusing on.

Generally it's almost always a good idea to avoid using a splash page. However, there are certain exceptions. One exception is if you're building up a portfolio page as a designer. Potential clients like to be wow'd, and a splash page is a great excuse to showcase your design talents. You can even use flash to animate the final design which can impress visitors as well.
