Buzzwords and Itemized Lists, Fuck.
76 Absolutely Beautiful Amazingy Stunning Fantastic JERK OFFS.
April 13, 2009 by Gary Simon

So apparently every design tutorial / resource site is into using these annoying-as-all-hell buzzwords routinely in their blog titles. And they’re almost always used to describe their shitty little no-effort lists they compile. For example…
- 48 Beautiful Examples of Wallpapers
- 8 Fantastic Photoshop Brushes
- 45 Excellent Examples of using Character Illustrations
- 21 Fantastic Examples of Brilliant Photography With Humor
- 19 Amazing Free Graphic and Image Editors for Designers
If there’s anything to learn from this, it’s that people are stupid sheep that salivate over the power of buzzword marketing and itemized lists. Just take a look at the design section of digg.com, this shit is all over the place. I for one can assure that you won’t ever see a blog post written here that has to do compiling lists that employ over-used douchebag words to describe them. But because I’m in a giving mood, I’ll offer my fellow designer webmasters some ideas for their next blog topics…
- 81 Fantastic Ways to Jerk Off
- 101 Essential Gay Porn Flicks
- 19 Incredible Ways to Stay Single
- 21 Gorgeous Examples of You telling Me to STFU
/end rant.
On a side note, sorry for having updated in awhile. Got slammed with some client work but I’m back at it now.

Yeah I know what you’re talking about man. I’m so sick of looking around for tutorials and see “20 Awesome photo rendering techniques” to see the same basic shit posted on 10 other sites that just use some other word to try to capture our attention.
And glad to see your back to updating.

Hi,
I understand the hate you get with the buzzwords, but I’m not really bothered with them. I live in The Netherlands and I must say that I don’t see buzzwords like the example you gave. But it sucks that you get frustrated by this, maybe there is a way to banish it or something.
Jada jada jada, it’s nice to see you post a new message and I’m looking forward to you next tutorial part of the wordpress theme. Keep up the good work!
If my English has errors please let me know :)

Buzzword media hype is cheap and gay. Always has been. Gary, you’re better off putting some serious time into a new premium website tutorial that details how to code a shopping cart etc. Make up any stupid theme. All I can say is that I would buy it if you did this, and then release a partial demo of said tut(if you’re paranoid about gaining traffic–I know its all well and good to keep publishing your regular rants for this reason, but still). So release a high-quality full web-site tutorial for sale (css’d) and I’d buy it. As I’m sure many others would. Cheers.
