From 2D to 3D Boobs!
3D Boobs > 2D Boobs. Here’s how.
February 3, 2009 by Gary Simon
Photoshop CS4 Extended offers a range of different 3d tools. In this tutorial, we’ll take a look at how to take a 2d image and change a portion of it to actual 3d. For this example I use a picture of a woman in a bikini, and make her breasts 3d. Cool stuff.

Premium Wordpress Design (Part 3)
Part 3 | Slicing up the images in Photoshop CS4.
January 26, 2009 by Gary Simon
In part 3 watch as I cut the design up into images. In total we end up with 14 image files that we’ll use and reference in the HTML/CSS tutorials to come. Cutting up the design into images is very important as they serve as the basis of how you will structure the HTML & CSS. Knowing what can and cannot be acheived through CSS alone is important, so the decisions you make in the first step of the HTML/CSS process are important!
Premium Wordpress Design (Part 2)
Part 2 | Finishing the Design in Photoshop CS4
January 23, 2009 by Gary Simon
Check out the fully complete design. (Also, I quickly designed a footer area after I did the video tutorial, it’s nothing elaborate, you can do it on your own.)
As promised, here’s part 2 of the free wordpress design video tutorials. In this tutorial we’ll finish off the theme design by focusing on the content portion. We’ll design the social networking sections, the main content/post section and the right sidebar.
In part 3, we’ll start with splicing the PSD up into images that we’ll use in the html & css tutorial(s).

Watch as I design the contest winner’s logo in Illustrator CS4. Har!
January 20, 2009 by Gary Simon
So our good buddy muheed baloch won the logo design contest I held earlier. We didn’t quite make it to 100 comments, more like 32; but you’ll have that. In this video tutorial you get to watch and listen to me (you lucky bastard) design the logo that muheed requested.
If you didn’t win, don’t fret. I’m planning on doing these contests on a regular basis. Get in on them early while the pickins good!

Let’s Design a Pair of Eyeballs
Yeah, a pair of eyeballs with dripping pupils!
January 17, 2009 by Gary Simon
I’ll be honest with you, this is probably the most worthless and pointless tutorials I’ve ever seen - and that’s bad, considering I’m the one creating it. But, they look cool and thought others might be interested in seeing how it’s done.

Something new I’m starting here is giving away a free logo design each month. Not only will I design the logo for free, but I will also record myself doing it in the form of a video tutorial. I’ve probably designed a total of 800-900 logos in my time being a designer, so you can be sure you aren’t receiving something that totally sucks. Take a look at my logo portfolio here. My other logo portfolio can be found at http://www.garysimon.net.
How do you win?
- Subscribe to this blog either via RSS, Email (Top of this page) and/or Twitter (Do it so you can be reminded of the winner post.)
- Be the person who posts the 100th comment on *this* page OR the last comment posted 5 days from now (January 19 @ 5:00PM ET).
- That’s it.
What are the rules / stipulations?
- You can comment no more than 2 times on this page. Use your comments wisely.
- You cannot use multiple email accounts or IPs.
- The email address used on both of your comments *must* be valid emails.
- Based on referrer information, I reserve the right to not count certain comments if I believe it’s the same person.
- I will only design 1 concept, and also reserve the right to not issue revisions if the revision request is too much work.
That’s it. If you win, I will contact you via email and give you login details at my logo design site where you will login and specify the details of your logo. Then within a few days I will design it and also add a post to this blog with a video tutorial of me designing it.
Full CSS Backgrounds
Boring Backgrounds make for Boring People?
January 11, 2009 by Gary Simon
Everything about you is boring, your job, your life, your face, your personality, even your fucking website background for christ’s sake. But fortunately for you, I’m going to help you eliminate another boring aspect of your life. Full CSS backgrounds allow you to add more than just some lame repeating gradient or pattern, they let you create a truly unique background that doesn’t have to repeat. I must warn you however, I fail majorly in this video, somewhere in the middle.

Revamped Episode 1
Sexy thongs and ugly logos in Revamped Episode 1.
January 8, 2009 by Gary Simon
(view project) Revamped is a new segment on Freeloaders where I redesign/revamp already established live designs. This will include websites and logos. In this particular episode, I redesign a logo in illustrator. I also didn’t realize that I had a stupid echo effect on my voice while recording. If it gets too annoying, smash your desk and close the browser window.
